1. Valley of Flowers National Park in Uttarakhand
In 1931, three British mountaineers, returning from an expedition, lost their way and stumbled upon a picturesque valley. Decked with carpets of orchids, poppies, primulas, marigold, daisies and anemones, it was a sight to behold. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it saw 10000 visitors in 2016. The 15 km long trek route to the Valley takes you past glaciers, rivers and gorges. July to October is the best time to visit to see the blooming flowers. The nearest airport is in Dehradun.

2. Valley of Flowers Trek, Uttarakhand

This one’s a classic, and a must-do on every trekker’s list! The Valley of Flowers lies near Sri Hemkund Sahib in Chamoli. While this trek falls into the more challenging category, and requires some planning to get through successfully, the payoff – a valley full of flowers so magical to behold that the locals call it fairyland – is well worth the effort!


3. Spiti Valley Trek, Himachal Pradesh
